What to Expect on Your First Visit to Dyer Health
When you arrive for your first visit, our friendly staff will welcome you at the front desk. To make check-in as smooth as possible, we often email necessary paperwork in advance. Once checked in, a team member will escort you to the exam room.
Dr. Derek will take the time to discuss your injury in detail, gathering a thorough history to understand your specific concerns. This information helps create a customized treatment plan tailored to your needs. A physical examination will follow, including range of motion (ROM) assessments for the spine and other joints, as well as orthopedic and neurological testing. Dr. Derek will explain each test and its findings in real-time.
Next, a movement assessment will help determine whether your injury responds better to increased mobility or a focus on strength and stability. Expect to move a lot during this process! Repeated movements provide valuable insights into your condition, and in some cases, you may experience relief even before active treatment begins. These movements and exercises can also be incorporated into a home routine to enhance your recovery.
During your visit, Dr. Derek may use a variety of treatment methods, including spinal and joint manipulation, soft tissue release, rehabilitation exercises, dry needling or Shockwave Therapy for pain and muscle tension, and nutritional counseling.
Follow-up visits are typically scheduled 1-3 days after your initial appointment, with sessions ranging from 10 to 30 minutes, depending on how your condition is responding. Some patients experience immediate pain relief, while others may require multiple visits for full recovery. Individual results vary based on the condition and daily activities. Regardless, our goal is to get you back to feeling your best as quickly as possible.
We look forward to helping you move and feel better!
